Dolpa is the most remote and least developed district in Nepal, Although a few anthropologists and geographers had explored the region, the entire district was closed to trekkers until 1989 the southern part of Dolpa was opened to organized trekking groups. IN 1990 individual trekkers were allowed into the region if they obtained a special us$ 10 per week trekking permits and did a bit of a bureaucrai run-around. There are no tea houses also mg the route to dolpo. You can reach Dolpa from Jumla (6 days). dhorpatan (10 to 12 days ), Surkhet (9days) sallyan, ( 5days) and Jomsom ( 11days,but not allowed).
The dolpa Airport is at Juphal half a day from District headquarters in Duni. Another airstrip is in Chaurijhari,4days from Duni.All these trips could be combined into one long trek of 25 to 30 days , from Kathmandu to pokhara to Jumala to via Dolpo.Dolpo, a land beyond the Himalaya, conjures up visions of mysterious monasteries, snow leopards and blue sheep. It is situated in the western part of the country, and is one of the most remote regions in Nepal.
Permit for first 10days per person $500 USD and after 10days per day per person $50 USD.
